Welcome to Makoma Dam Resort

Makoma Dam is a place that brings back fond memories of family time and fun with childhood friends for many. Makoma thus represents more than just a place of leisure but one that holds sentimental value.

We are located approximately 6km from Luanshya Town Centre in Roan Township. The Dam is man-made and covers an area of 197ha and is 3.5km long, 780m wide, and up to 27m deep in some areas.
Makoma Dam is a historical landmark and was developed by the Mine for the discharge of excess underground water from the mine in the 1950s. Over time, the dam has benefitted from seasonal streams and natural rain runoff and supports a decent amount of wildlife in the area. The dam is especially unique as it does not have any crocodiles making it a haven for watersports and recreation.

Opt for the 1 km walk and soak in the picturesque scenery. And for cycling enthusiasts, we offer a thrilling 20 km cycling route that promises breathtaking views and unforgettable experiences.
